In their endorsement, the Chronicle said, “Baker has had a laser focus” on the issues that mean the most to her constituents, and stated: “Her consistent bipartisan approach has earned solid rewards: a new rail connection between BART and the Altamont Corridor Express train, for example, that will remove tens of thousands of cars from Highway 580. She’s been a dependable advocate for Gov. Jerry Brown’s climate change efforts and a strong supporter of gun control legislation.”

“I’m honored the San Francisco Chronicle has recognized my bipartisan and independent approach to addressing the most important issues facing our community. No matter what the issue, whether it’s smart transportation solutions, protecting our environment and fighting climate change, or strengthening our gun laws, by working together we can accomplish great things for our district,” said Baker.

The San Francisco Chronicle endorsed Baker in both the 2014 and 2016 elections.

Assemblywoman Catharine Baker is running for re-election in the 16th District and represents Alamo, Danville, Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Walnut Creek.
