Working Together

For over a decade, BART made no progress on a proposed second garage at the east Dublin/Pleasanton BART station

Thanks to a collaborative effort, the garage will become a reality.

Working in conjunction with the City of Dublin, Assemblywoman Catharine Baker obtained the funding from the state; Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty provided the county land for the garage.

The current wait list for parking at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station totals over 3,000 people.

The new parking structure will provide an additional 650-700 new spaces for an estimated $30-31 million. With this additional parking, more people will be able to get out of their cars and onto BART. In the event that parking no longer is needed in the future, the structure can be turned into additional housing or office space.

This provides a shining of example of how people with a goal in mind, can work together to solve a problem.
